Gratitude

At first when I called the insurance company about my surgery they told me they couldn't do anything. I thought my coverage through work was pretty good, but I guess now that I'm in a soft of limbo (not being able to be there) - we've ran into some problems. But... things started looking up.

Thankfully my whole family has been a huge help through all this. My wife has been able to pick up some extra shifts as I've been trying to get myself back together again.

Big plus. I found out my supplemental insurance will help take care of my surgery but they're also helping us financially while get better. Hopefully I'll be back on my feet (and hands) again so I don't have to worry about these things.

Time to get things back to normal... hopefully

So, it looks like I'm going to have to have some extra surgery on my leg. Calling the health insurance office tomorrow to figure out billing. Probably won't be back to work for a couple more weeks. These accidents are turning into quite the mess. Anyone have suggestions?

Things aren't looking so great right now.

I don't mean to complain to everyone but since my hand and my leg are broken, it's been tough to do day-to-day work. I'm trying to settle things out with my health insurance to see what we can do. Here is the current condition of my leg.

Times two. Another trip to the hospital.

Warning: don't anger other drivers. They may try to kill you.

Generally I would consider myself to be a good driver. Since my hand has been healing fine, I've been using my motorcycle to get around. I was enjoying my afternoon ride. Just me, my black leather, the bike and the breeze. I could hear my favorite classic rock playing in my head so naturally I had to soak it in and do a few fist pumps. Forgetting that my hand isn't functioning properly, I may or may not have accidently angered some people with a vulgar sign. I promise this was not my intention. This guy got mad and cut me off. So I swerve to the right and lose control of my bike. There goes my leg. First the hand now the leg.

I'm worried about the amount of work I'm missing and my car and health insurance is not going to be able to cover everything... hmmm...I wonder how my other insurance coverage would help?

Update

Doctors say my hand is healing just fine. The car insurance barely just covered everything but it looks like things will be working out, but what a pain. Thankfully I have supplemental insurance in case things had been worse.

Looks like I'll be sporting thing thing for the next couple weeks.

The crash

Today started out like a normal day. I managed to barely get the kids to school on time. Thankfully they weren't with me when the unfortunate event happened. Some of you may have already heard that I was recently t-boned on my way to work. Unfortunately someone thought it would be smart to text and drive. My oldest daughter is in the process of getting her drivers license. I'm always teaching her to not text and drive. I hope something good comes out of this experience - a lesson for her to not text and drive.

The good news is that while my car is totaled, I am doing fine. I've broken my hand but it shouldn't get in the way too much. I'm taking the next couple days to recover but should be back on track soon. Hopefully our car insurance will cover everything.
